About
Prins Nicolas (b. 1987, Moscow) is a storyteller who moves between the tangible and the ineffable. His canvases are not just images but narratives—fragmented yet deeply intertwined—where memory, myth, and emotion collide. A graduate of LUCA School of Arts Brussels, Nicolas crafts visual tapestries from fleeting moments: a film still caught between frames, a forgotten photograph, a saint’s solemn gaze, a whisper of personal history. Each painting is an episode, a scene suspended in time, inviting the viewer to step inside and piece together its meaning.
Queer identity, tenderness, longing, and solitude are at the core of his work. Through layered compositions that blur the boundaries between the real and the surreal, he explores the tension between intimacy and distance, desire and safety, presence and absence. His paintings do not dictate; they suggest. They offer glimpses into open-ended narratives, where the personal becomes universal, and where every shadow and flicker of light carries the weight of a story waiting to be felt.
